The predicate is the part of a sentence that tells us about the subject. Note that the simple predicates can have additional words describing them. The sentences below have been divided into their two main parts—subjects and predicates.

Note that the simple predicates can have additional words describing them. As you can see from the example sentences above both the subject and the predicate can consist of. These sentences are very simple examples of what predicates are, since the predicate is expressed entirely by one verb. The simple predicate can be as simple as just one word.
